I began working towards my massage therapy license in 2003. I was lucky enough to attend a school that allowed me to take continuing education classes while working towards my license. It was then I began to learn about more advanced modalities like fascial therapy, trigger point, relieving headaches, visceral massage, and more. I finally began my business as an LMT in 2008, and it flourished. I attribute much of that to my hunger for knowledge, which to date amounts to 500+ hours of continuing education courses.
In 2014, my husband and I found out we were expecting our baby. This was when I fell in love, head over heels, with our natural-minded birthing community here in DFW. The support, love, and resources our birth team gave us were such gifts to my family during that time. I felt a fire ignited within me, and I knew I wanted in on this evidence-based birth community and incredible, personal support. I decided to become a birth attendant which is a title known as a Birth Doula. In 2016, I began accepting clients as a professional Doula. This part of the business took on its own life and flourished as well.
Over the years, my professional path continues to take on aspects of my life that closely follow my heart. This includes offering services like meditation, alternative healing therapies, and soon I will be offering dancing for birth classes. What was once a therapeutic massage business is now a multi-faceted therapeutic, healing, and birth services center for wellness.
One of the best things about being a massage therapist is every session gives me a unique chance to refine my focused awareness, intuition, knowledge, and craft. This supports what I do as a birth attendant in the biggest way possible. The massage world I know so well seamlessly flowed into an advanced and intuitive birth practice.
It is a privilege to work with the people and families I care for whether on the massage table or in the birth space. It's important to me that my clients feel safe, supported, and empowered. Every day I have a special opportunity to share what I've learned through my career to help my clients reach their desired goals. I believe educating my clients on how to help themselves is where the road to self-advocacy and optimum wellness begins.
